Welcome to Chapin American Legion Post 193
Since receiving our Charter in 1998, Chapin American Legion Post 193 has proudly welcomed veterans from all branches of the United States Armed Forces and has remained committed to serving Veterans, their Families, and our Community.
Post 193 was established in 1998 with a Temporary Charter and 19 Veterans. Our Full Charter was presented in 2000 with a charter membership of 70 Veterans. Initially, Post meetings were held at Crooked Creek Park. In 2011, the Post moved into the former Lexington County Fire Department building on Lexington Avenue, which served as our home for the next 15 years.
For more than five years, our members and supporters worked diligently to raise the funds necessary to build a permanent home for Post 193 in Chapin. That vision became a reality in 2026.
On July 18, 2026, we celebrated the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for our new Post Home at 230 Amicks Ferry Road. On August 10, 2026, we received our Certificate of Occupancy, and on August 20, 2026, we held our first membership meeting in our new home—with a record 76 members in attendance.
Our Legion Family Continues to Grow
Today, the Chapin American Legion Post 193 Family includes:
- 451 American Legion members
- 52 American Legion Auxiliary members
- 26 Sons of The American Legion members
- 529 total Legion Family members — and growing!
Our new Post Home represents much more than a building. It provides a permanent home from which our Legion Family can continue serving veterans, supporting our youth, honoring those who served before us, and strengthening the Chapin community for generations to come.
Join Post 193
Membership in The American Legion is open to veterans who have served at least one day of federal active duty in the United States Armed Forces since December 7, 1941, and have been honorably discharged or are currently serving.
We invite eligible veterans to become part of one of the most active and growing American Legion families in South Carolina.
